What is the Dangote IPO?
An Initial Public Offering (IPO) happens when a private company sells shares of ownership to the general public for the very first time.
In this offer, Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals Free Zone Enterprise (DPRP FZE) is offering 4,100,000,000 ordinary shares to everyday Nigerians, institutions, and African investors so you can become a co-owner of the mega-refinery.
Imagine a giant bakery being built on your street. Until now, only the original founder owned it. Now, the bakery invites you and your neighbors to contribute money to expand its ovens. In return, you receive official certificates saying you own a piece of the bakery.
What does one share cost?
The share price is fixed at ₦525.00 per share. Unlike regular trading on the stock exchange where prices jump every second, during an IPO the price is completely fixed.
The minimum purchase is 10 shares, which costs exactly ₦5,250.00. You can buy 10, 20, 50, 100, or any multiple of 10.
When does the offer open & close?
An IPO has a strict window. Once the deadline passes, you cannot apply at the ₦525.00 offer price anymore.
What documents or accounts do you need?
Because shares in Nigeria are 100% digital (dematerialised), you do not receive a physical paper certificate in the mail.
Must match your Nigerian bank account name to receive refunds and dividends.
Your digital locker for holding stocks. If you do not have one, you get a temporary RIN!
Where can you apply?
You do not need to visit a physical office. There are 55 approved electronic application channels listed in the prospectus across 4 popular categories:
